Hampshire Hills first opened in 1973 after two years of planning and designing a facility destined to be called the finest racquet and health club of its day. Sited on its original 13 acres Hampshire Hills overlooked the iconic Grandview Farm and the splendor of the Monadnock Mountains in the background. Sporting six world class Dynaturf tennis courts, two paddleball courts, two squash courts, men's and women's health spas, Hampshire Hills became an instant model for the sports industry of that time to follow. In addition there was a beautiful indoor pool and roman whirlpool, modern locker rooms with steam and saunas, a barber shop and even a shoe shine attendant in the men's health spa. The gourmet restaurant overlooking the tennis courts quickly became a destination dining spot with the flash of the table side flambé sometimes distracting the tennis play on the courts below.
No one had seen anything like this and yet here it was happening in Milford, NH. Soon came the addition beautiful har-tru outdoor courts, a large outdoor pool complex with high and low boards and even shuffleboard courts. Over the years Hampshire Hills moved its focus away from gourmet dining to more healthy but delicious family fare with affordable pricing at Tiebreakers Family Grille, an award winning family restaurant. Furthermore, Southern New Hampshire's most awarded outdoor deck restaurant Wickets on the Green continues to win accolades as parents enjoy exquisite dining while watching their children play on the nearby greens.
Since 1986 Hampshire Hills has expanded its campus to include 77 acres of ball fields and trails, lighted courts, gardens, a waterfall, and activities offered nowhere else in New England. We have enjoyed compliments from five U.S. Presidents of the United States as well as dozens of world class athletes from Rod Laver and John McEnroe to Vinnie Pazienza and Jonathan Papplebon. We have added an additional world class facility in the Hampshire Dome where we host everything from Pop Warner football to NCAA sanctioned college games. Concerts, track meets, expositions, boating and camping shows, soccer and lacrosse camps can be found under The Dome. The Hampshire Dome is home to the only full field indoor golf range in New England, the only quarter mile indoor bike and roller blade track, and the longest and fastest indoor running track in New England. The acclaimed Mike Boyle Strength and Conditioning center is now housed at the Hampshire Dome too. From the greatest tennis pros, to the best trainers, group exercise and swim instructors, to our wonderfully talented salon stylists and technicians, and our chefs and bartenders extraordinaire, we continue to accumulate more best of awards each year than any club in America. We believe the reason is because we have searched high and low and found the most dedicated and family centric staff members anywhere. Our team members are not only knowledgeable and professional but the most caring individuals you could ever hope to find. And that is why the 40 plus year history of Hampshire Hills is so memorable and outstanding and why Hampshire Hills will continue to be the leader in a most important industry for our people.
